Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis was out for the second straight day
Wednesday, reduced to riding a stationary bicycle because of swelling
and soreness due to tendinitis in his right knee, the same ailment that
hampered him during offseason workouts. Redskins trainer Bubba Tyer
said Portis will return in a matter of "days, not weeks" but will not
participate in Saturday's scrimmage against the Ravens. "As much as he
thought he was ready to go, it's two-a-days," Tyer said. "We're going
to try to modify his workout some and concentrate a little bit more on
his strength work and his conditioning work without the trauma of
practicing, cutting and turning. He feels a little discomfort when he
cuts and turns."

NFL.com's Michael Fabiano analyzed all 32 NFL team's Quarterback position for fantasy production. He didn't go into as much detail as some may like but for the majority (AKA no keeper leagues) of fantasy leaguers it'll be a good overview by team.

NFL.com's Michael Fabiano is publishing overviews of each
division by team of their fantasy value including schedule strength
(against run & pass) and listing of each team's top 5 fantasy
performers. I've listed the top 5 for each team below and the overall
summaries are good. Some of this is academic but for fantasy nuts, its
worth diving into the details. This is for the NFC East.

The Washington Redskins RB Clinton Portis may have a knee injury that could effect his ability to carry the load in 2007. Portis missed the team's offseason workouts Wednesday and yesterday to
travel to Birmingham, Ala., where he was examined by Dr. James Andrews
and diagnosed with patella tendinitis.

The Washington Post reports Redskins HC Joe Gibbs has indicated that while he expects RB Clinton Portis to remain the starter at tailback next season, the workload probably will be divided more evenly between Portis and RB Ladell Betts.
Betts thrived as the primary ballcarrier in the late stages of the
season with Portis hurt, and re-signed before becoming a free agent. "I
think the load will probably be a little bit more balanced between the
two," Gibbs said. "They really like each other, which is good. Clinton
loves football, is one of the smarter football guys I've been around.
He understands. He wants to win. He'll come right out of there and tell
Ladell, 'Hey, get in there.' A lot of times it will kind of be in his
hands but certainly down the stretch I don't know if anyone played much
better than Ladell did."

ESPN reported that free agent QB Patrick Ramsey has signed a 2 year deal for $5 million with $1.5 million in guarantees with the Denver Broncos to be 2nd year QB Jay Cutler's backup. Washington's first round selection in the 2002 draft, Ramsey never developed into the future franchise quarterback.

ESPN is reporting, the Washington Redskins have resigned backup RB Ladell Betts to a five year, $11M extension that includes $5.5M in signing bonus. Betts had rushed for 100+ yards in three games this year and was beginning to look like a potential free agent target but he took the guaranteed money and security of Washington.

Observations from NFL Week 10 Morning games.
Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-17 -
- QB B. Favre - he put up a strong effort against a tough defense with 2 td's & 330+ yards.
- WR D. Driver had (or was close to) a career day w/ 190+ yards receiving & a 82 yard TD
- RB A. Green didn't do much against the NFL's top run defense rushing for 55 yards on 22 carries
- QB B. Johnson had a better day coming off back to back poor performances, throwing for 257 yards & a 40 yard TD pass. However he did throw a pick and lost a fumble continuing a trend that will likely result in Brad Childress making a switch in the next week or two.
- RB Chester Taylor had a workmanlike 75 yards on the ground and 20 yard receiving but didn't score.
- Minnesota WR's again were inconsistent w/ newcomers Bethel Johnson w/ 75 yards & Billy McMullen surprising with 60 yards & a TD (40)

The San Francisco 49'ers dealt restricted FA WR Brandon Lloyd to the Washington Redskins for two draft choices. The two selections, a 2006 3rd round and 2007 4th round, were less than the required 1st round selection compensation the 49'ers had tendered Lloyd. There were rumors, reported by ESPN's Len Pasquarelli, that the 49'ers were going to dish Lloyd for two 2nd round selections. So needless to say a third & a fourth doesn't seem very appealing but we have to keep this all in perspective. The 49'ers couldn't realistically expect
