2012 NFL Fantasy Rookie Preview

It's still very early to be predicting fantasy rookie players to make an impact in 2012.  What's still not known is how many of the underclassmen enter (losing Matt Barkley didn't help) the draft, this is shaping up to be a strong draft at the top (1st & 2nd round) for skill position talent and deep in the middle rounds across the board.  I bracketed into buckets the fantasy skill position talent, however much of this will be predicated on where each player is selected and the situation they end up in.  

PAFFL 2012 Rookie Pick Order

The 2012 PAFFL Rookie selection order is now set. In what many NFL draft experts have been calling a fertile one, particularly for franchise quarterbacks, featured backs and difference maker receivers.  There's special talent at the top and plenty of eventual pro bowlers in the early rounds, all which provide the NFL with an infusion of talent.

PAFFL Rookie Pick Playoff Outlook

This time of year there's two camps of franchises, one that have a clear opportunity for a playoff berth and those that are looking to find ways to land in the bottom four with a chance for the first overall rookie pick, and ultimately hope that they can pick up one gamebreaking player to turn their franchise around.  So here's a look at where teams stand with three games left on the schedule.  

Post Week 2 Sunday Thoughts...

Below are some random thoughts following week 2 (sans MNF game).  It's been an incredible aerial attack to kick off the 2011 NFL season, I can't imagine this pace will continue. 

Rookie of the Year Favorite - Cam Newton

There will be plenty of hype spread over the next six days as the world of NFL media will both uplift and break down the genius that was Cam Newton in week one.  Yes it was a terrible defense, yes there were some massive breakdowns in the secondary, and most importantly, yes Cam Newton will surely have some horrific days of sub 100 yards passing a hat trick plus of turnovers.  But what he accomplished statistically as a QB in his first professional game, on the road, is one for the record books.  What maybe most impressive is a QB known for his athletic mobility, did his damage and broke a record passing the football.  He looked accurate, poised and able to make progressions on the fly.

Revised Fantasy Football Rookie Predictions

With the PAFFL auction less than a month out (and hopefully the NFL lock out coming to an end shortly), I wanted to post a revised prediction on rookie picks for 2011.  

2011 Likely Unconditional Cuts

In trying to prepare the league for this year's auction (a month away, lockout or not!), I'm putting together the current owner of unconditional cuts and the likely cuts.  If anybody can help piece this together, it benefits the entire league.  For non PAFFL members its worth looking at some of the bad contractual decisions members of this fantasy football league made.
