It occurred to me this morning that QB Peyton Manning has been a special fantasy player the the last half decade. In the PAFFL alone, he has been in the Jankster Cup game (our equivalent of the Super Bowl), for 5 consecutive years. During that period he only has won one (with an opportunity to win a second this year) but he's been the dominant force on his respective squad every year during this period.

I came across this slightly funny joke between Tony Romo, Peyton Manning & Tom Brady.

The 2007 regular season is finalized and its time to recognize the studs that made this regular season sizzle and led to the Ron Jeremy Fanclub being the leading PAFFL team throughout the regular season. You'll notice some trends as QB-WR tandems in New England & Dallas have exploded this year to dominant their respective positions unlike any other tandems in NFL history.

With all the holiday planning, don't forget that there are 3 NFL games this year on Thanksgiving. The traditional two with Detroit playing Green Bay in the day's most interesting game, then Dallas hosting the New York Jets in what likely will be a blow out and the NFL Network showcasing a night game between the Indy Colts and Atlanta Falcons. For all of you with fantasy players on those teams (ok, you shouldn't need to worry about Atlanta or Jets but the Colts, Packers, Cowboys and Lions have plenty of fantasy talent to go around), don't forget to set your respective lineup.

Ron Jeremy Fanclub and Firkin Crawlers consummated an interesting trade.
RJFC acquired WR Marvin Harrison and $2 in 2008 cash from FC for RB Earnest Graham. If Marvin Harrison doesn't play this weekend, FC agrees to pay an additional $1 in 2008 to RJFC.

I loved this message board post by the Firkin Crawlers who were concerned about league opinion after they mistakenly left inactive WR Marvin Harrison in their lineup this past weekend. While that sucks for the Crawlers its not the end of the world.

Ok, this won't be relevant for all fantasy leaguers because the PAFFL is an extremely deep league (16 teams w/ 20+ players per team) but below is a list of some of the top free agent or waiver wire pickups in fantasy leagues. Remember not all these are relevant but as noted some if not all could be extremely valuable in the weeks ahead as the NFL season gets into future weeks.

Sportsline.com did a review of all the NFL running backs entering their 2nd seasons in the NFL. It's an interesting look at them and provides a rookie style overview and perspective on their individual opportunities entering 2007.

In what can only be classified as the over saturation of social networking, a startup in the MidWest (I'm assuming its there b/c why else would they choose to focus on the extremely niche world of Colts fans?) has built a social networking site for Indianapolis Colts fans, called MyColts.net. In what appears to be a complete rip off of Facebook (but with a more mySpace commercial feel), the site allows fans to connect to each other, share photos, create groups and more.

SI.com's Peter King published his first of many 'Power Rankings' for the upcoming NFL season. Though its hard to argue with his predictions, particularly at this point, I have to say that Indy at #1 is a little off center and likely a nod to their super bowl title from last season. The reality is San Diego and New England both improved themselves while Indy (which barely beat NE at home in the AFC Championship game) took a step back due to defections in free agency.

NFL.com's Michael Fabiano analyzed all 32 NFL team's Quarterback position for fantasy production. He didn't go into as much detail as some may like but for the majority (AKA no keeper leagues) of fantasy leaguers it'll be a good overview by team.

NFL.com's Michael Fabiano is publishing overviews of each
division by team of their fantasy value including schedule strength
(against run & pass) and listing of each team's top 5 fantasy
performers. I've listed the top 5 for each team below and the overall
summaries are good. Some of this is academic but for fantasy nuts, its
worth diving into the details. This is for the AFC South.

Indianapolis Colts selected Ohio State WR Anthony Gonzales with the #32
and final selection of the 1st round of the 2007 NFL draft. Gonzales is an ideal slot receiver for the Colts with sure hands, good quickness and open field running ability, so going to the Colts is a great fit for the Ohio State product.

To bad they didn't air it. According to this account, Peyton Manning dissed Tom Brady during dress rehearsal on his recent guest host appearance on SNL.

Indianapolis Colts starting RB Dominic Rhodes was arrested for DUI on Monday. "It was a normal, run-of-the-mill drunk driving arrest," Bursten, the attending officer said. Rhodes will be a free agent officially on February 28th, and ironically this maybe the event that keeps him in Indy.

The Indianapolis Colts won Super Bowl 41 handedly over the QB less Chicago Bears, 29 to 17. Peyton Manning won MVP honors on a subpar 247 passing yards while throwing a TD & Pick. The real offensive MVP's were Thomas Jones & Dominic Rhodes who assured themselves roles in 2007 with super performances on Sunday running for 113 and 117 yards respectively. Rhodes in particular was an offensive key during a rain drenched game. The rookie Joseph Addai was solid as well with 77 yards and 66 thru the air (and 10 catches), but he did mishandle a ball once. Overall this Super Bowl will be remembered for Peyton Manning finally getting the 'good but not great' moniker off the family name. Which is ironic because the goat of the day had to be Chicago's Rex Grossman who was the true MVP, if the Indy faithful voted, as he fumbled the ball away twice and threw two picks, one returned for a score. If Grossman takes care of the ball, the Bears may have won. Their defense and running game are that good, and they got a major break with the weather....but in the end Grossman gave them enough opportunities and the Colts offense took advantage.
