The first blockbuster deal of 2008 was consummated between BINGO (formerly Blak Jesus) and the Beavercats.

Ok, I did this right after the NFL draft in April but following OTA's & mini-camps, and the stupidity of veterans (such as Cedric Benson) a lot has changed since then. So I wanted to take another pass at this.

With all the holiday planning, don't forget that there are 3 NFL games this year on Thanksgiving. The traditional two with Detroit playing Green Bay in the day's most interesting game, then Dallas hosting the New York Jets in what likely will be a blow out and the NFL Network showcasing a night game between the Indy Colts and Atlanta Falcons. For all of you with fantasy players on those teams (ok, you shouldn't need to worry about Atlanta or Jets but the Colts, Packers, Cowboys and Lions have plenty of fantasy talent to go around), don't forget to set your respective lineup.

Each week I attempt to compile a diverse list of potential Waiver Wire / Free Agent pickups for week 10 of the NFL season. I play in a 16 team league where we start 9 players (no defense, only 1 kicker) so we're always looking for that #3 QB or RB who emerges to be the final piece on a playoff run.

Below are a list of potentially valuable Waiver Wire / Free Agent pickups for week 9 of the NFL season. Maybe some of these guys aren’t worth a damn in shallow
leagues but what’s the fun in dropping Marvin Harrison b/c he’s out a week for
a guy like Wes Welker who is available as the #3 receiver in New
England. Ok, Welker shouldn’t
be available in ANY league format but you get the point.

Team Kitty and the LA Isotopes completed a trade during our fellow owner's wedding this past weekend in Seattle. This was consummated after several inappropriate phone calls & text messages at all hours of the day & night.
Team Kitty receives QB Brett Favre & WR Brandon Jones ($2, 2008) from LA Isotopes for RB Cedric Benson ($55, 2007), QB Jake Delhomme ($55*, 2007), WR Ike Hillard, QB Joey Harrington, Team Kitty's next 9-16 rookie pick and the option of either a topper/holdover or a cut next year OR if Team Kitty makes the playoffs this year then both the next year Team Kitty does not make the playoffs.

Here are the week 3 top free agent / waiver wire pickups. In my fantasy league we have 16 teams which start 9 guys each (no defense, 1 Kicker, 1 TE, 2 RB, 2 WR & 1 QB with 2 flex spots). So these may not be relevant to all fantasy leaguers but most are valuable guys who either will immediately have value or will in weeks ahead.

NFL.com's Michael Fabiano analyzed all 32 NFL team's Quarterback position for fantasy production. He didn't go into as much detail as some may like but for the majority (AKA no keeper leagues) of fantasy leaguers it'll be a good overview by team.

AP reports the Green Bay Packers may end up with a running back by committee approach for the 2007 season. With RB's Vernand Morency, Brandon Jackson, Noah Herron and 7th round selection Deshaun Wynn, the team maybe forced to take a 'team approach' to the position.

Green Bay Packers selected San Jose State WR James Jones with the #78
overall selection (#14 in the 3rd round) in the 2007 NFL draft. Jones is a tall receiver with below average speed but above average strength and good hands. He likely won't be in the regular offensive sets for the Packers in '07 but he has the potential to develop into a consistent, chain moving possession receiver.

Green Bay Packers selected Nebraska RB Brandon Jackson with the #63
overall selection (#31 in the 2nd round) in the 2007 NFL draft.
Jackson is a smaller back who runs with good balance, quickness & vision that display potential featured back talent on the NFL level. Jackson will compete with Vernand Morency for the right to start with Brett Favre and a developing zone blocking scheme offensive line.

The Press Gazette reports rumors persist that Packers backup QB Aaron Rodgers is on the trading block in a possible deal for Oakland Raiders WR Randy Moss. GM Ted Thompson,
who should know better than anyone, doesn't put a lot of stock in such
speculation. "It's never been discussed inside the building or outside
the building," said Thompson when asked about a possible Rodgers trade.
Thompson drafted Rodgers in the first round (No. 24 overall) in 2005
with the intention he would be the Packers' quarterback of the future.
Nothing has changed Thompson's mind about that. "I think he's a very
talented guy," Thompson said. "He's everything we thought of in terms
of intelligence, and his physical ability, his ability to throw the
ball. I like the way he handles himself around the team. I think he has
all the attributes to be a good quarterback."

The Boston Herald reports a source in Wisconsin said today that the Packers and Raiders are on the verge of announcing a trade that would send WR Randy Moss to Green Bay in exchange for backup QB Aaron Rodgers.
There are expected to be other particulars in the deal. According to
the source, Green Bay would also give up a seventh-round pick in 2008,
while the Packers would receive Raiders TE Courtney Anderson as
part of the deal. The Packers would also receive a conditional pick
from the Raiders in the 2009 draft which would be based on Rodgers’
production in Oakland the next two seasons. The source indicated that
Moss has agreed to restructure his contract, which calls for $20
million in base salary the next two years. Moss and Packers QB Brett Favre are said to have been talking on the phone throughout the process. Press conferences could be held as early as Friday.

The Packers Brett Favre clutched his right arm after taking a big hit and left for the remainder of the game. Favre apparently injured a nerve in his right arm and couldn't grip a football. Backup 2nd year QB Aaron Rodgers played poorly in Favre's place. Depending on the severity of the injury, its possible we have seen the last of Favre in an NFL uniform.

Observations from NFL Week 10 Morning games.
Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-17 -
- QB B. Favre - he put up a strong effort against a tough defense with 2 td's & 330+ yards.
- WR D. Driver had (or was close to) a career day w/ 190+ yards receiving & a 82 yard TD
- RB A. Green didn't do much against the NFL's top run defense rushing for 55 yards on 22 carries
- QB B. Johnson had a better day coming off back to back poor performances, throwing for 257 yards & a 40 yard TD pass. However he did throw a pick and lost a fumble continuing a trend that will likely result in Brad Childress making a switch in the next week or two.
- RB Chester Taylor had a workmanlike 75 yards on the ground and 20 yard receiving but didn't score.
- Minnesota WR's again were inconsistent w/ newcomers Bethel Johnson w/ 75 yards & Billy McMullen surprising with 60 yards & a TD (40)
