PAC-10 Expansion?

This is suddenly a hot topic which appears to be in motion to rewrite the division one conference layout.  While a lot of the media attention has been focused on Nebraska and the Big Ten's initiative to grow out west, it seems the conferences that face the most change are actually the Big 12 and PAC 10.  

Top Rookies for '09

It's a quick look as the NFL Draft's first day starts to wind down on who the top fantasy rookies will be, specifically for the PAFFL (where long-term success is just as important as short term).  I'll update this as the 3rd round is completed but at this point here are the top guys based on talent & situation. 

Top Skill Position 2009 NFL Draft Prospects

With the deadline for college underclassmen to declare for the NFL draft passing today, the selection of prospects for the 2009 NFL draft is set.  For fantasy football that means a new crop of talent who can make or break leagues in the new year. Unlike '07, this year features a much less deep crop of running backs but is very deep at wide receiver. 

NFL Eye for the College Guy

That's the title of a new bi-weekly column by one of the FFCollective writers.  He claims to be an even bigger college football fan than our very own Isotopes.  Anyhow this week's installment is on a DE from South Florida, so not too fantasy relevant but a good read nonetheless.

Heisman Trophy Contention in '07

Its getting to that time of the year when everybody has their list of Heisman trophy candidates.  This year's no different and I keep hearing the similar group of nine or so guys: QB's Colt Brennan, Tim Tebow, Todd Reesling, Chase Daniel, Matt Ryan, Pat White & Andre Woodson & RB's Steve Slaton & Darren McFadden.  While all the conjecture is fine and dandy, and quite frankly a requirement for the media to entertain its audience, this is, in my opinion, a two horse race. 

University of Oregon - chokers?

This past Thursday night another Pac Ten team failed to show it had the mental makeup of a champion, and passed up a tremendous opportunity to rise up from middling bowl team to be a national player.  That school was the University of Oregon, which had three games left on its schedule, none of which vs. a team with a better than .500 record.  They sat in an enviable position as the #2 overall BCS team in the country, all they had to do was win out to represent the Pac Ten in the BCS title game and show the country that the Pac Ten isn't just a one team conference.
