This deal got lost in the shuffle of the flurry of announcements but no other will have a bigger impact this year and in the future on the teams in question. The deal has BINGO sending QB Matthew Stafford ($80, '15) & RB Ben Tate ($16, '14) to Short Bus for RB Marshawn Lynch ($55, '15) and TE Vernon Davis.
Stafford may not be a top 5 "real" quarterback but he's certainly in that class in the fantasy world we live in. Throwing to Calvin Johnson and putting up pinball machine numbers ensure he's a stud. Marshawn Lynch is certainly a stud at running back but he's getting up in age and plays a style that doesn't lend himself to remaining healthy for a long-time. Davis is a great tight end but you're only getting half a year of him, while Tate is an above average flex player but has tremendous value next year as he's a free agent. Put it this way, Stafford is worth $120 in the open market, Tate will be a $50 value next year (approximately dependent on where he signs) and Lynch, barring injury, is a $100 one. That means Short Bus gets a overall value of $115 over the next 2 years while BINGO captures $90 but with far more risk. If Lynch & Davis put BINGO over the top this year then it'll be a great deal however Short Bus' lineup gets better now and in the future on this deal so I like it best for them (and it's why it will have a huge impact long-term on their squad).
