This is a one of those unique, minor, likely won't factor into anything but its great to be talking deal in the off-season type of fantasy football deals.
IMT acquires QB Jake Delhomme ($55, '10) & the #15 overall '10 rookie pick, Team Kitty acquires WR Jacoby Jones ($7, '09) and the Beavercats acquire QB Brodie Croyle ($25, '09), QB Tarvaris Jackson ($37, '09), WR Kevin Walter ($2, '10) and a DS spot in '10.
Summary: The only assets in this deal that have any value in '10 are Delhomme, the rookie pick, Walter and possibly Jackson if Favre doesn't return and Sage Rosenfels falls flat in training camp. Net net this is a fun one to speculate on because that's about all there is to this deal in the short & long term. That is until Jacoby Jones gets his chance and becomes the beast those who have seen him play becomes.
As for Delhomme, he's clearly at the end of his career but new GM Mike Holmgren stated clearly that he wanted a "leader to lead this team" which is why he gave him $7.1 million for '10 and he will be the starter for this year. Of course Cleveland will draft a QB but Holmgren will stick with Delhomme for '10 while the Browns franchise rebuilds into a new mold.
Team Kitty is thrilled with this deal because it frees up $55 in cap room to help it go after some big name free agents.
After testing the market with nearly every owner in the league, it quickly became clear that TK could have difficulty moving Delhomme for any value (or giving him away). And while TK enjoys trading access to every team in this league, it finds itself most limited when it comes to trading with IMT.
Accordingly, when the Beavercats appoached us with the potential of facilitating a three-way deal for Delhomme with IMT, we were more than willing to accept any brokerage fees that came along with it. As it turns out, the Beavercats were not only able to broker our end of the deal for free, we also received a minor asset out of the transaction.
We at Team Kitty, would like to thank the Beavercat owner for his work on the deal and we are very excited about the prospects for our 2010 campaign.

Oh, I would love to be able to trade with IMT...

One note on this, every element of this deal was done over SMS. So every owner could have access to the owners involved if they actually made the effort.
Lastly I think many owners will be disappointed they didn't offer up something for Delhomme. Yes he's a below average starter at the end of his career on a bad offensive team, but barring injury he's likely to start most, if not all, his games next year. Thus at $55, he will end up being a better value than say the 49'ers starting QB (Alex Smith), St. Louis starter (whoever that is), Buffalo (same as SL), and a handful of other folks who falter early in the season but will cost significantly more than Delhomme.

Props to Kitty for finding a way to deal Delhomme and Orton in one offseason. He has truly mastered the art of moving low-value players.
Btw, David Carr is going to be the starting QB for the 49ers come opening day. Bank on that.

As for IMT, they have become much more responsive to emails/texts...they must not like your crappy offers Trippers!
Posted by: RonJeremy | March 20, 2010 at 08:41 PM
The Trippers never respond to any texts or phone calls from Team Kitty anymore.
We are prepared to remove them from our "most favored trading partner" list.

The Trippers have a rule - 1 phone call for every 100 texts. Once you have exceeded your allotted texts, we will not respond until we hear your voice.

Does anyone know where the DS spot in this deal came from? Neither IMT nor TK reported trading it.
