En Fuego, the new team name for the Firefighters, completed their first major (actually first overall) trade in the PAFFL.
En Fuego acquires QB Daunte Culpepper, RB Ryan Grant ($55, 2010) & RB Rashard Mendenhall ($55, 2011) from the Beavercats for QB Peyton Manning ($117, 2008) & $5 in '08 cap space.
Summary: En Fuego locks up its starting backfield for the next three+ years (with Brandon Jacobs, Grant & Mendenhall) while renting the Beavercats Manning. There will be lots of opinions on this but historically its a pretty good deal for En Fuego given the contracts and talent involved. I think back to a similar deal the Firefighters did in '03 (?) when they dealt an oft injured, rookie, 1st round pick, DS'ed RB (Steven Jackson) for what at the time was a bounty of talent (QB Trent Green, RB Stephen Davis and much more). The Firefighters got burned on that deal b/c Davis soon thereafter got hurt and Green had one of his worst years that season, while Jackson has become one of the NFL's best RB's (at least one of fantasy football's best:)
Interesting Note:
- This is the 2nd time in 3 years that Daunte Culpepper & Peyton Manning were traded for each other. Last time Team Kitty took a recently knee shredded Culpepper & Jamal Lewis in his last year of his contract for Manning who was locked up for the next three seasons.
Another past mistake by Team Kitty!
Down with Team Kitty!
