There was a small exchange today with one owner, LFP, bringing a claim on another owner, Team Kitty, over a perceived violation of our full disclosure act (which we don't have but the unwritten code is that you must disclose and/or not deceive a fellow owner of the contractual situation for a player you trade).
Here is the claim:
This liability (Damon Huard being on long-term contract at $29) was never disclosed to Los Frijoles Pintos during trade discussions with Team Kitty. His representations were fraudulent and he negotiated in bad faith.I'm worried that we're setting a bad precedent with Team Kitty. Last year he entered into an agreement to acquire Reggie Bush, then backed out with no consequences. Now this? Something really needs to be done.I demand that the Damon Huard for Kevin Kolb trade be overturned and I be compensated for damages. While I think we should leave it up to the league to decide on punishment & damages, I think the following is reasonable:Los Frijoles Pintos
- Undo the trade immediately (I'm ok with backing out the point implications as it won't change anyone's win/loss records, even though it means I lose valuable tie-breaker points from my total)
- Team Kitty should give me $10 at next year's draft to compensate for exposing me to this liability
- Team Kitty should forfeit $10 in 2009 salary cap as punishment intended to curb his pattern of reckless trade negotiations
This is only part of the story.
I accused PASB of collusion with Kitty, after PASB callously dismissed my claim against Kitty.
The original email thread follows.

nice e-mail.
but it was decided after the draft that Huard would not be on 3 year. Kitty has no liability. There could be a penalty toward Isotopes though.

fixed.
technically, Huard is under contract... Isotopes shouldn't have been able to open him up. It was an illegal move since Huard had 2 years left. I don't think we're enforcing the contract though so I removed his 3 year designation.
Isotopes should get a penalty though.

I promise to do a little homework on this today.
I've got a couple of roster cleanup items on the website. Is there any way I can make these edits:
Damon Huard is not on contract
Devin Thomas is not on contract
Matt Hasselbeck is not on contract
Gracias

The Trippers agreed long ago to drop its grievance against Team Kitty.
I was hungry at Taco Bell and had no money on me. The Trippers owner agreed to pay for my meal in return for 25% stake in Team Kitty.
I think I threw up shortly thereafter, thereby voiding the deal for breach of warranty (JT failed to deliver marketable goods as promised).

I agreed to put this issue behind us as part of our Robbie Gould deal in 2006, but since Team Kitty refuses to accurately portray what happened that fateful night at the 408 Taco Bell next to Ernie's, I am forced, once again, to step up to the front lines of this war and fight for justice. It was no secret I wanted into the PAFFL, and since all of the PAFFL owners were cock-blocking me so that extreme dorks could own franchises (a practice that unfortunately continues to this day with prejudice towards all potential newcomers who might not fit the bill of total fantasy dork), I tried taking a minority position in Team Kitty so that I could feel the thrill, as it were, of owning a potent, high powered fantasy juggernaut. My $10, which I earned harvesting watermelons over the summer in 110 degree heat, corresponded to 25% of the PAFFL buy in in 1992 ($40 total). It was a straight forward share purchase, and when it came time for dividends and future tag along provisions as was the understanding at the time of the initial deal, Team Kitty reneged, plain and simple.

Lies. All lies. You can't believe a word Blak Liberace says. This is a prime example of the systematic smear campaign and character assassination that the Trippers been so insistent upon carrying out against Team Kitty these past 15 years.
You just never know where you stand. . . One day, you're inking a deal that includes a "most favored nation" trading status provision and the next morning, you're met outside your front door by a process server notifying you of the latest lawsuit the Trippers have filed against you.
Al Davis has nothing on this guy and we will not tolerate being stepped on any longer. We are filing a defamation suit against the Trippers Organization and Blak Liberace, individually. In addition, we are revoking the Trippers "most favored nation" trading status. Finally, we are filing a temporary restraining order against the Trippers' owner and GM.
It is a shame that we had to resort to these measures, but, frankly, we're exhausted and slightly fearful for our safety.

It would be great for someone to post the all-time top ten controversial PAFFL trades. I smell collusion, burritos, and future cash!!

Team Kitty remains a favored nation trading partner, we need him to stop with the histrionics and brinksmanship. 1992 is over, there will be no more lawsuits, we just need to make sure the history books reflect the truth. We were a minority partner in 1992 and got fucked in the asshole. We learned our lesson. We haven't made the same mistake. We thank Team Kitty for the education.

One of my favorite deals of all time was the 7 scrubs for a few stud players I pulled off at the Reno draft 13 years ago with Tommy. I remember getting Ricky Watters and I want to say Brett Favre for Nothing. It was beautiful.

1) I think that we should have a punishment for opening up a player prematurely.
2) Is Huard on 3-year or not?
Posted by: Jibaholic | October 29, 2008 at 10:36 PM
Huard is not on 3-year, he was illegally opened up at this past year's draft by the Isotopes and picked up by Team Kitty for one more dollar. They did not place him on 3-year though.

If Short Bus is in the PAFFL next year, I will not be.
