This year's PAFFL winter meetings are next Wednesday, January 2nd at 6:30 PM. The meetings will be held at my house with a conference call in number for those who want to join remotely. The Fiesta Bowl will be played that night so we'll also be able to scout the West Virginia & Oklahoma squads for the next Adrian Peterson. I will serve up some appetizers and pick up some beers for folks who make it in person. We also have the Dutch Goose a few blocks away which we can hit up for some pitchers after the meetings.
The meetings will cover rule discussions and ideas for some changes, as well as our annual playoff fantasy draft.
Blak Jesus: The resignation of their ownership has provided an opening in the league for the first time in nine years.
Rule Proposals: There usually are a couple of proposals from folks and discussion around adjusting our existing rules. Some ideas I've heard this year are -
- Non-Playoff Team Rookie Tournament - Give all teams an opportunity to 'earn' the top pick which will eliminate any reason to tank games or sell-off studs, and keeps it interesting for everybody to the end.
- Injury Spot - define who can/can't be placed in the spot, and for how long.
- Lineup Changes - Define how lineups maybe changed and set penalties for owners who don't participate.
Realignment: I know many of you forgot about this but we agreed that for '08, the entire league would be divided up based on their scoring the past five years into groups of four. I will run the numbers on that and send it out to everybody prior to next week's meeting.
I will post more details later this week but if you have ideas for rule changes, please post them in the comments section. This is likely the last opportunity to push thru a change for the '08 season as anything we agree upon at the auction will be implemented the following season. Here is the post from last year's winter meetings.
The best RB on either team's roster, OU's Demarco Murry, is injured. There is not a RB currently in college with Adrian Peterson's potential. We should all be ashamed of ourselves for allowing him to fall into Todd's hands.
