Week 10 Waiver Wire / Free Agent Pickups

Each week I attempt to compile a diverse list of potential Waiver Wire / Free Agent pickups for week 10 of the NFL season.  I play in a 16 team league where we start 9 players (no defense, only 1 kicker) so we're always looking for that #3 QB or RB who emerges to be the final piece on a playoff run.

For week 10, here are some folks fantasy leaguers should consider picking up either for short or long term value during the stretch run.

    • QB Brooks Bollinger (Owned in 1% of leagues)  – I wouldn’t do it personally pick him up but if you’re desperate it looks like he’ll start for the Vikings in week 10. Don’t expect him to hold the job very long though.
    • QB J.P. Losman (30% of leagues) – He was on our list last week so he’s unlikely still available but if he is and you’re lacking a good #2 QB, jump on this guy. He has enough athletic ability and weapons around him to surprise in the 2nd half of the year.
    • QB David Garrard (41% of leagues)– He’s not a good start this week vs. Tennessee but he will return to the starting lineup and he’s been nicely above average (at least 1 TD pass in first 5 games and 200+ passing yard in 4 of his first 5) while not throwing an interception all season long. He’s not a stud but he’s one of the top 20 guys at his position and could be available after missing the last two weeks.
    • RB Priest Holmes (71% of leagues) – I never thought I would say this but Holmes could be a fantasy factor again. Anybody who saw the Larry Johnson last week expect his foot/ankle to be broken but the team is still not saying what the severity of the injury is. If LJ misses time, Holmes likely will be the starter but he will share carries with rookie Kolby Smith as well.
    • RB Michael Robinson (9% of leagues) – Robinson had 67 yards rushing last week in a share role with Frank Gore out. He’s questionable for the Monday night game so Robinson could be pressed into starting duty again.
    • RB Samkon Gado (8% of leagues) – Gado has been an above average runner in previous stops Green Bay & Houston, with Ronnie Brown out and Jesse Chatman seemingly always nicked up, don’t be surprised if gets some opportunity down the stretch.
    • RB Ron Dayne (31% of leagues) – With the news that starter Ahman Green’s knee may not be 100% all season and a breakout 124 yard, 1 TD performance this past week, Dayne has quickly jumped to the front of a short field for top free agent available in many leagues.  I can’t myself to say you can count on Dayne but he looked good and in the right matchups he can produce like a #2 fantasy RB.
    • TE Donald Lee (64% of leagues)  – Lee is fresh off a big contract extension and is slowly developing into what looks like a top 10 fantasy TE. If he’s still available in your league and you don’t have one of the top 6 guys (A. Gates, J. Witten, D. Clark, J. Shockey, T. Heap and K. Winslow) you should think about adding him to your roster.
