Here are the week 3 top free agent / waiver wire pickups. In my fantasy league we have 16 teams which start 9 guys each (no defense, 1 Kicker, 1 TE, 2 RB, 2 WR & 1 QB with 2 flex spots). So these may not be relevant to all fantasy leaguers but most are valuable guys who either will immediately have value or will in weeks ahead.
Here are some of the top week 3 Free Agent / Waiver Wire fantasy league pickups:
- QB Derek Anderson - Cleveland Browns - the guy isn't the long term answer but he just dropped 5, yes five, touchdown passes on an above average Cincinnati defense in a 51-45 shootout victory. The guy hasn't proven to be a winner but he puts up numbers.
- QB J.T. O'Sullivan - Detroit Lions - O'Sullivan's stats didn't look great (2 picks & a fumble) but if Kitna were to miss time (like he did today during the 2nd & 3rd quarters) he will be a top 15 fantasy QB. If you have Kitna, you should pick him up as insurance.
- RB DeShawn Wynn - Green Bay Packers - Wynn, a 7th round pick this year out of Florida, has shown good versatility, quickness and likely has played his way into the regular RB rotation even when veteran Vernand Morency returns with his 2 TD & 50 yard on 10 carry performance.
- RB Selvin Young - Denver Broncos - Young is another undrafted, prospective fantasy diamond in the rough. The former University of Texas back, was impressive in the preseason and he continued that in week two by putting up 44 yards on 4 touches. He's not a fantasy reserve yet but if Henry were to miss a week Young would be a top 10 fantasy back, so if you're in a deep league or own Henry pick him up this week.
- WR Joe Jurevicious - Cleveland Browns - he isn't a stud but he's a consistent performer who is a good bye week player who like week 2 will drop big numbers (2 TD's this week).
- WR Roydell Williams - Tennessee Titans - Williams made some tough catches today against the Colts putting up 70 yards & a TD. He's not a fantasy starter yet except in the deepest leagues but he could become Vince Young's go-to receiver by the 2nd half of this year.
- WR Shaun McDonald - Detroit Lions - McDonald will be inconsistent week to week but he'll surprise and has so far this year with (13 catches for 161 yards & a TD)
- WR Dennis Northcutt - Jacksonville Jaguars - The talented return man has become a Jags starter and showed what he's capable of in the team's new passing offense with 75 yards receiving. He's not a starter in regular leagues but deep ones should look at him.
- TE Bubba Franks - Green Bay Packers - the former 2x pro bowler nearly disappeared but he's still only 29 years old and came to training camp reinvigorated. It showed in week 2 with a TD catch & 20 yards.
