The blog, SportProjections.com, posted an interesting article analyzing which NFL players may break out in 2007. Though I disagree with several of their choices, its worth a read to digest their perspective.
Here is their list of potential break out players. For a more comprehensive analysis of their thoughts, please click thru to read their actual post.
- Cedric Benson (RB) Chi – It's Benson's job to lose but I don't think he's got it in him to truly 'break out'
- Brandon Jacobs (RB) NYG – Similar to Benson, Jacobs will get the majority of the carries assuming he's up to it...but unlike Benson I actually think Jacobs could be a top 10 fantasy back in '07.
- Jason Campbell (QB) Was – I'm losing my belief in Joe Gibb's ability to be anything but conservative on offense but Campbell does have some upside.
- Wes Welker (WR) NE – Welker sure is getting paid well and the Patriots definitely have invested quite a bit in him (a 2nd round pick), so this is possible but breaking out for him would be, what? 900 yards...
- Lendale White (RB) Ten – Another guy who has been handed the keys to the car but not sure he'll ever be the 'man' so to speak - but we'll know more in a couple of months, I just wouldn't bet too heavily on this pony.
- Matt Schaub (QB) Hou – The Texans want him to develop into a solid player - they gave him a LOT of $ and dealt two 2nd round picks for him. However until they improve their offensive line and get a 2nd receiving option, he'll be no better than a backup fantasy QB in our world.
Anybody have some other ideas of folks who could explode this year? I personally am a fan of Atlanta's RB Jerious Norwood and Carolina's RB DeAngelo Williams.
