Top 5 Players by Position from Sportsline.com
Sportsline.com's Pete Prisco rates the top 5 players by position for the 2007 season. There are some interesting selections.
- Peyton Manning
- Tom Brady
- Carson Palmer
- Drew Brees
- Donovan McNabb
- Marc Bulger
Summary - Nothing shocking here except I would rather have Brady, who showed last year his brilliance by nearly taking a terrible Pats offense to another Super Bowl if it weren't for 2 wide open drops by Reche Caldwell.
- L. Tomlinson
- L. Johnson
- F. Gore
- S. Jackson
- F. Taylor
- B. Westbrook
Summary - Taylor is a surprise here, most people know he's well respected & supremely talented but the #5 overall RB in the NFL? Gore maybe a little high too...I want to see him do this two years in a row before we annoint him the #3 overall RB in the NFL.
- Chad Johnson
- Andre Johnson
- Torry Holt
- Steve Smith
- Marvin Harrison
- Larry Fitzgerald
Summary: Andre Johnson is a surprise, like Taylor at RB, nobody doubts his talent but he's yet to consistently prove his durability or talent. Surprisingly some very good, complete WR's, such as Hines Ward, were left off the list.
- Antonio Gates
- Tony Gonzales
- Jeremy Shockey
- Kellen Winslow
- Alge Crumpler
- Ben Watson
Summary: I would have listed Jason Whitten ahead of Shockey, Winslow, Crumpler & Watson b/c he's more of a complete player who blocks well, runs great routes and has soft hands. Those other 4 all are more highlighted or splashy but none of them have been as consistent, durable or good.
