NFL.com's Michael Fabiano analyzed each of the 32 NFL team's Running Back position for fantasy value for 2007. There are only a couple truly open RB positional battles heading into training camp but fantasy keeper leaguers or those looking for this year's Maurice Drew-Jones should review Fabiano's analysis.
The team's with a question mark at the RB position are:
- Atlanta Falcons - Dunn likely will start but Norwood appears primed to get as many (or more) touches in the Falcons more power running style system.
- Carolina Panthers - Foster likely will start but DeAngelo Williams maybe the more valuable back when the season's finished.
- Detroit Lions - Tatum Bell should start the season behind Kitna but Kevin Jones will be playing when he's ready and Duckett may steal the goal line carries.
- Green Bay Packers - I think Jackson is the starter come week one but Morency is currently the starter on the pre-training camp depth chart.
- Minnesota Vikings - Chester Taylor likely will start but Adrian Peterson will play much more...that's b/c Brad Childress will want to give his team the best chance to win and that will be with the ball in Peterson's hands. Don't be surprised if both guys get 200+ carries though - so both may have fantasy value in all leagues.
- Oakland Raiders - LaMont Jordan is the starter w/ D. Rhodes suspended to start the season. I would still say he's the better fantasy option but until the Raiders line improves, avoid all of their backs.
- Tennessee Titans - Chris Brown appears to be the featured guy but don't count out Chris Henry and the coaches favorite LenDale White
