QB's Who Are Feeling the Pressure
Another good fantasy related post from our friends at SportProjections.com, this one is the starting NFL QB's who are likely feeling the most pressure to perform in 2007. Funny how Rex Grossman finds himself on every one of these lists, but then again he deserves it for having the most lopsided performances in a single NFL season of all-time.
For more detail, check out the article on SportProjections.
- Rex Grossman - This one is obvious, coach Smith can't continue to back Grossman if he manages to single handedly lose games for the Bears. Their special teams and defense won't bail him out in '07 like they did in '06.
- Byron Leftwich - Byron throws a beautiful ball but he's too flat footed and immobile to be a consistently productive QB, at least in this offensive system.
- Eli Manning - The hype and lack of fire doom the younger Manning. He needs to show the emotion & intensity to win over the NY fans...if he doesn't he'll be expected to do super human things not even his brother could do.
- Matt Schaub - He's too green for this but that's what happens when a team jettisons its top overall pick, David Carr, pays a ransom for you and dishes out the largest contract in team history (except the deal they paid last year's #1 overall - Mario Williams).
I would also include
- Alex Smith - SF fans are expecting him to continue to improve and lead the 49'ers to the playoffs. If he doesn't, they will start getting inpatient and place most of the blame on his shoulders, fair or not.
- Donovan McNabb - he's shown to be franchise type guy but Phily fans expect more and McNabb has been a little to up and down, both performance & health wise to complain. He's less on the hot seat than the rest on this list but he needs to stay healthy and lead the Eagles deep into the playoffs for the shine to be back on.
- Tavaris Jackson - Minnesota is placing a lot of pressure on the 2nd year man from division two, if they ask him to throw more than 20 times a game he likely will wilt away the season for the young Vikings.
