Frank Gore has broken a bone in his right hand during today's practice. He is rumored to be out of the entire pre-season and possible longer.
Gore was injured during the 1st padded practice, during a non-contact ball-handling drill, no less. Coach Nolan seems to think he'll be ready for the latter part of the preseason, but I doubt he's going to see any action for the entire pre-season.
Gore is known for always being injured. He's torn ligaments in both of his knees. He's also had surgery to repair a torn labrum in both of his shoulders. These injuries, as well as the one suffered today, explain why Coach Nolan wants to limit Gore's touches throughout the season.
This might more Gore down a few spots in some drafts. If you draft him, handcuff him with the other 49er RBs.
It's just a bone in a hand with nearly 6 weeks until the first week of the season. So if there is such thing as a fortunate broken bone, this just maybe it.

Gore will play week 1. That is all that counts. If anything, you don't have to worry about a leg injury during the preseason :)
