The rich get richer in fantasy leagues when they know how to snag a player on the heels of some (or a lot) of bad news. In an educated league like ours, swooping in at the right time can be highly profitable.
Some guys whose value took a significant hit this off-season, but might be attractive long term investments still:
RB Chester Taylor (I just traded him to dump his long-term contract and am already wondering if I was too impulsive)
QB David Carr (Delhomme may be on thin ice)
QB Chris Simms (currently No. 3 in TB, No. 4 if Plummer comes back; a year ago he was a solid commodity)
WR Chris Henry (suspended for half the season and by the time you read
this he'll already be drunk and doing something stupid again; gifted
athlete)
WR Chad Jackson
QB Daunte Culpepper (word is he'll never be what he was, but...)
RB Ricky Williams (what was I just talking about again?)
I completely disagree with Simms and Carr. I also think Chad Jackson is at least a year away from stepping on an NFL field and maybe 2-3 from contributing. If Chester Taylor puts up 75% of what McCallister did in 2006 with the addition of Bush, owners should be happen. I don't see that taking place.
Chris Henry, on the other hand, is going to come back with a hatred fury all things defensive over the last few weeks of the season. He'll be DS'ed this year and only $4 for the next two years thereafter. He's available for trade!

Some more guys that have dropped off the radar screens because recent injuries or bad years have knocked them out of the elite. They may continue the fall, or they may be poised for comebacks
Shaun Alexander - on everyone's bust list after a disappointing and injury plagued 2006
Clinton Portis - was dominate in 2005, but now people think he's going to be backing up Betts after missing the last half of 2006
Steve McNair - people forget about him because of his dings and age, but he is still hungry for a title, has a year experience with Billick, and has a new RB that is poised to explode. He could put together a renaissance type season for fantasy owners picking him up in the later rounds or at a discount in auction formats

I like the Shaun Alexander call...I think he could drop 15 TD's & 1500 total yards in a swan song All Pro season before the post 30 blues hit another top RB.
