Houston Texans selected Lane College WR Jacoby Jones with the #73
overall selection (#9 in the 3rd round) in the 2007 NFL draft. Jones is a high risk, high reward type pick in the 3rd round that you would say is too risky to take any higher but would prefer to take in the 4th or 5th round. A former track star with some size, Jones is still raw and likely will take time to develop.
Scouting Report:
- Position: Wide Receiver
- Height: 6'3"
- Weight: 210
- 40 Time: 4.49
Jacoby Jones is raw after not playing much football in high school and dividing his time in college between track & football. But he has been a hard worker, adding more than 17 pounds in the past year and making strides on the field. He has shown great open field running ability, leaping ability and the desire to be a great player. He is an athlete first and foremost but like many raw talents it will take a few years before he can be expected to be a major contributor on the NFL level.
Fantasy Prognosis: Jones will enter the 2007 season as the #4 or #5 WR with kick return responsibilities. For annual leagus Jones will be a non-factor this season but keeper leagues should take a flyer on this guy because he has the potential, albeit a long shot, to be a special player in time - that time maybe years away though.
2007 Predicted Numbers:
Touches: 10 catches
Total Yards: 160
TD's: 1 TD
