Buffalo Bills selected California RB Marshawn Lynch with the #12
overall selection in the 2007 NFL draft. Lynch was the Pac-10 Offensive Player of the Year & named an All-American in 2006; he is a complete back who can line up at tailback, in the slot or spread wide. As one scout said, Lynch is a 'poor man's Marshall Faulk'. This will be a good selection for Buffalo as they look to replace Willis McGahee.
Scouting Report:
- Position: Running Back
- Height: 5'11"
- Weight: 217
- 40 Time: 4.42
Marshawn Lynch is a solidly built 215 pounds who can take the ball the distance, who can slash & catch the ball; he's a complete back in the LT, Clinton Portis mold. He is a matchup problem with NFL teams because of his versatility, and in fact he'll remind some Bills fans of the old Thurman Thomas days. If Lynch has the right attitude and stays healthy, he could be their next great back.
Fantasy Prognosis: Lynch will enter camp as the Bills starting back and could be top fantasy rookie as well. His versatility will keep him on the field and contribute to a good number of total yards (1200+) and some overall strong fantasy numbers (7 to 10 TD's) resulting in him being an average #2 fantasy back in 2007 - likely higher than Adrian Peterson because of their situations but slightly below AP for keeper leagues.
2007 Predicted Numbers:
Touches: 215 carries, 38 catches
Total Yards: 1250 Yards
TD's: 9
