Green Bay Packers selected Nebraska RB Brandon Jackson with the #63
overall selection (#31 in the 2nd round) in the 2007 NFL draft.
Jackson is a smaller back who runs with good balance, quickness & vision that display potential featured back talent on the NFL level. Jackson will compete with Vernand Morency for the right to start with Brett Favre and a developing zone blocking scheme offensive line.
Scouting Report:
- Position: Running Back
- Height: 5'10"
- Weight: 210
- 40 Time: 4.5
Brandon Jackson is shifty
with good balance and a low center of gravity. He has adequate speed and displays good quickness but he is unproven and may lack
the size to be a power back or withstand the punishment of 200+
carries. That said Jackson has shown the ability to run between the
tackles and was consistently productive in a pass focus Nebraska
attack. In addition he has similar measurables to a former Nebraska /
Green Bay Packer by the name of Ahman Green.
Fantasy Prognosis: Jackson will get every opportunity to start in 2007 for the Packers. At the very least he'll share carries with Morency, and in an offense that should be productive with Brett Favre at the helm, it wouldn't be surprising if Jackson ended up being one of the top fantasy rookie's in 2007. Slot him in as an average #3 fantasy back or reserve with potential to be a #2. Long-term he has a lower ceiling relative to Lynch, Peterson and Michael Bush but beyond those guys he's right there with everybody else.
2007 Predicted Numbers:
Touches: 185 Carries, 24 Catches
Total Yards: 975 Yards
TD's: 5
