Cleveland Browns have selected Notre Dame QB Brady Quinn with the #22 overall selection in the 2007 NFL draft. Quinn was expected to be a top 10 pick, so this is great value for the Browns. Quinn has shown the moxie, leadership and physical skills to be a solid starting QB in the NFL for years to come. Unlike JaMarcus Russell, Quinn has a much higher floor but nowhere near the same potential.
Scouting Report:
- Position: Quarterback
- Height: 6'3"
- Weight: 228
- 40 Time: 4.72
Brady Quinn has good size, strong intangibles & experience and proven leadership skills. He can make all the throws, is mobile and has played well in a pro style system under former Patriots OC Charlie Weis' Notre Dame system. I believe he'll be a quality NFL starter, which is why this pick is safe, however I don't believe he'll be a perennial pro bowler, think more Kerry Collins or Phillip Rivers and less Peyton Manning or Tom Brady.
Fantasy Prognosis:
The Browns have Charlie Frye installed as their starter today but Brady Quinn will be provided every opportunity to start in 2007 for the Browns. The Browns have skill position talent around him in Braylon Edwards, Kellen Winslow & Jamal Lewis but Quinn will struggle to be anything more than a fantasy reserve in 2007. For keeper leaguers, Quinn looks the part of a solid #2 fantasy QB in 2008, however he lacks the upside and talent of Russell.
2007 Predicted Numbers:
Touches: 325 Pass Attempts
Total Yards: 2235 Yards
TD's: 12 TD's
