ESPN is reporting that the NY Jets have acquired RB Thomas Jones by dropping down in the 2nd round from selection #37 to #62. Jones' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is apparently working on a contract extension for Jones with the NY Jets brass.
Fantasy Prognosis: Jones' value will increase entering the 2007 to make him a solid #2 fantasy back in most fantasy league formats. However beware of the Jets' system tendencies to share the ball. This move will reduce the value of 2nd year Leon Washington who demonstrated talent but now will be no better than a good change of pace back. This also significantly increases the fantasy value of 3rd year Chicago RB Cedric Benson who likely will enter the 2007 season as the featured back in an run heavy offense. He is a sleeper candidate to be a strong #2 fantasy back.
