NFL Network's Adam Schefter is reporting free-agent WR Ashley Lelie signed a two-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers for $4.3 million, including a $2 million signing bonus. Lelie is a favorite to start opposite Arnaz Battle and fill their need for a vertical threat.
The 49'ers owners, Denise & John York, were thought to be frugal but they've spent more than $100 million in the first 48 hours of free agency on four players - Nate Clements ($80 million), Michael Lewis ($20 million*), Arturo Franklin ($6 million) and now Lelie ($4.3 million). The 49'ers claim they are still in the market for a LB and Tackle, they also have approximately 8 selections in the first four rounds of this years NFL draft.
*Lewis' agreement numbers have not been confirmed.
