The Tennessee Titans are another team with no uneasiness at QB and RB. However unlike the Jets, the Titans have more clarity at RB and an open QB position. The Titans will start the season with Billy Volek at QB and Chris Brown at RB. However expect to see Travis Henry and possibly LenDale White in the rotation, and Volek will be on a short leash....we'll likely see Collins by week four or five.
Player analysis....
QB's
- Bill Volek - Volek played fairly well the entire preseason and is the most experienced in this offseason, so it's a surprise that they signed Kerry Collins. My personal feeling is they should stick with Volek until he proves he can't hack it. But my instinct is telling me Norm Chow and the powers that be don't think he's a fit. So I wouldn't count on him to start. I will predict 6 starts, 8 TD's and 1000 yards.
- Kerry Collins - The most experienced QB, he didn't sign on to be a backup this year. I expect he'll be starting by week four or five and put up somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 TD's and 1300 yards
- Vince Young - Vince showed throughout the preseason why all the hype isn't simply hyperbole. He's raw though and it would be idiotic for the Titans to count on Young to win now. He will get time at the end of the season when the Titans fall out of the race but not enough time to be fantasy worthy this year - or maybe he will.
RB's
- Chris Brown - he's the starter in name but I'm not convinced he'll get the majority of the carries. Henry is more accomplished and LenDale White is young and has the potential to be a stud. Don't count out Brown but his upside is probably 1000 total yards and 6 td's and he's more likely to finish in the 800 total yards 4 td range.
- Travis Henry - Henry had 2800 yards and back to back pro bowl seasons but he still needs to prove he's the same back he was in Buffalo two years ago. He led the team in rushing this preseason with 2 TD's and 95 yards but on 30 carriese. Don't go overboard but he's going to be flying under the radar and could be a good fantasy role player with 800 total yards and 5 or 6 TD's.
- LenDale White - White entered the league w/ promise but he hasn't shown the same explosiveness that made him the man at USC. Given the familiarity in the offense and with offensive coordinator Norm Chow in particular, he's not somebody to forget. If Brown gets hurt, White could explode but he's unlikely to get more than a couple carries a game. Maybe 400 yards and 4 TD's is the high end for LenDale.
